There's always something new to complain about when you're at Illinois Tech.
Well, I came back into work today at 5pm, after my three hour lunch break, and my boss and one of my co-workers walk in after trying to catch the 5:00 IIT shuttle to downtown. Funny thing is, it was only 4:55. So I had to listen to my boss rant about IIT and how much it sucks yet again.
I shouldnâÂÂt be too hard on him, though, because heâÂÂs right. IIT does pretty much suck. And the bus shouldnâÂÂt be leaving at 4:55 if itâÂÂs scheduled to leave at 5:00.ItâÂÂs not like this is the first time either. But I guess I get tired of hearing complaints about anything all the time, and complaints about IIT are never in short supply. At least Fitz (my boss) is trying to change things. HeâÂÂs writing an email about the whole thing to somebody right now, and heâÂÂs already phoned three or four people.
But it makes me wonder if itâÂÂs really worth it. I mean, things arenâÂÂt really going to change â at least not soon. One thing IâÂÂve noticed is that while change is inevitable, it is often slow in coming when youâÂÂre dealing with institutions. The other lesson IâÂÂve learned is that you can never simply complain â you always have to have a suggestion or solution in mind. Luckily, IâÂÂm sure Fitz has several ways in which things could be improved, and given the chance, IâÂÂm sure he could implement them. But chances are heâÂÂs not going to get that opportunity.
HereâÂÂs to those situations that we cannot change, no matter how hard we try. May they continue to piss us off till eternityâÂÂs end.
