Finding problems is as important a skill as solving them.

I just thought of this, and I think the explanation will be very clear to the guys from Gamma Beta. My job as a Microsoft Program Manager is a lot like being DAA of a House full of Fockler's. [No offense, Jef.] :-)

I've realized that senior citizens are a lot like cliches. They're both old and a little trite sometimes, and often we're tired of hearing them. But if we actually take the time to listen, there's a heck of a lot of wisdom in their words. Thanks grandma! For what it's worth...

I've noticed that physical punishment for children, such as spanking, is perceived as child abuse these days. At the same time, I've heard research that suggests the level of violence in today's society is much higher than it was when my parents were younger. I'm wondering if maybe the two are related. Maybe kids that endure a little physical pain during childhood will be better equipped to recognize the pain they might be inflicting on others later in life. Basically, would spanking kids now prevent them from shooting their best friend later? I was spanked. It hurt. I learned my lessons, and I'm not a violent person. Nor am I on bad terms with my parents. In fact, my parents and I have a great relationship. That's enough evidence for me. I'm spanking my kids, that's all I'm saying. Call child services if you want to. For what it's worth... :-)
