Mercy
Well, I don't think this really needs any explaining... The topic is kind of obvious. It started out as a song, but in the end I thought it made a better poem.
Mercy

Here I am,
All alone
In my room,
So safe and warm.

I long so much
To show my beaming face.
Will I ever get the opportunity
To try and find my place?

I hear talk and murmurs
Of my impending doom,
But all I can do
Is cower in my room.

Won't you hear my cry?
Won't you hear my plea?
This is the voice of an unborn baby.

Will the monsters ever scare me
From under my bed?
Will you ever place a cool cloth
Upon my feverish head?

Will I ever play ball with my friends,
Or run naked through the park?
Will I ever crawl into your bed
Because I'm scared of the dark?

Will I ever have a fight with you
And say that I hate your guts?
Then feel so ashamed that I cry
And we make up?

Will I every say I'm sorry
For the stupid things I do?
Will I ever say those simple words,
"I love you?"

Won't you hear my cry?
Won't you hear my plea?
This is the cry of an unborn baby.

You say that you can't give me
All that I deserve
Instead you take my everything
What purpose does that serve?

Won't you hear my cry?
Won't you hear my plea?
Please hold tight my trembling hand
And extend me some mercy.

I long to enter this large world
And share my life with you
Please don't kill me, mother, don't
Because I love you.

Won't you hear my cry?
Won't you hear my plea?
This is the cry of an unborn baby.
