Star Wars: Clone Wars

Shortly after Episode II came out, Cartoon Network ran a series of animated shorts about the actual Clone War. The events of the War don’t actually happen on film – Episode II ends with its beginning and Episode III comes in towards the end – so the shorts try to fill in the gaps. They’re actually very well done, and worth watching if you’re trying to prepare yourself for Episode III. The animation style is slightly anime-ish, but it’s not over the top. Teen Titans has more anime style than this. The only complaint is that it’s very high on action but there is little explanation of who the characters are or how they tie into the rest of the film. Some are familiar, like Dooku and Sidious, but there were several of the Jedi that I recognized from the film but didn’t really know anything about, and the shorts don’t really do any explaining. Maybe I am just not hardcore enough. :-) Anyway, the entire series is a little over an hour, so it’s worth a watch (I said these were shorts – like 3 minutes apiece). You can get it through Netflix.
